The protein content of egg yolks is much higher than that of egg whites. A yolk’s protein-to-fat ratio is about 8 to 1. That makes it a fantastic deep conditioner for hair with a high porosity level (hair that tends to suck up moisture easily).

When you deep condition with egg yolk, it can help strengthen hair from within, potentially giving you smoother, silkier strands. To use: Mash an egg yolk and mix with 1 tablespoon of olive oil or coconut oil; apply to hair and sit for 15 minutes before rinsing. If your hair is dry or brittle, leave it on longer before rinsing.

2) Avocado

Avocado is packed with protein, making it an excellent choice for treating high-porosity hair. You can make a paste by blending an avocado in a food processor or mashing it up with a fork and applying it to your scalp. Wrap your hair with a plastic cap and leave it on for at least one hour before rinsing out with warm water. Repeat as needed. First, add two tablespoons of peanut butter to a large plastic bag and cut off one corner (this will make it easier to apply). Then, massage your hair with your fingertips. 

The peanut butter helps smooth out any kinks in your strands while moisturizing them and adding shine! Leave on for at least 15 minutes before rinsing with cool water. I promise your hair will look & feel silky-smooth 🙂 Tip: To treat yourself to an even deeper condition, mix a tablespoon of olive oil or coconut oil into the peanut butter before applying.

5) Apple cider vinegar

Adding apple cider vinegar to your rinse is easy to infuse your strands with protein, which can help combat high porosity. Pour a half-cup of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar into an empty spray bottle and fill it with water.
